4 challenges of designing communications systems with automotive Ethernet

Image
(PC : blogs.sw.siemens.com) Electrification, autonomous driving, and cloud connectivity – these are just a few of the major trends that are having a significant impact on the way automobiles design and manufactured today. By 2025, it’s estimated that plug-in electric cars will comprise 23% of new passenger vehicle sales globally, and about 75% will be fully electric. But that’s not all that’s changing. McKinsey projects that up to 15% of new cars sold in 2030 could be fully autonomous – and that will require seamless Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication over cellular and dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) networks, as well as cloud connectivity for real-time data transfer. All of these requirements drive up complexity and cost. As a result, network communication architectures are evolving to provide scale and efficiency, along with additional processing power and performance.  However, even as networking architectures evolve, traditiona...

Scientists Take Up Artificial Intelligence To Improve NASA’s Eyes On The Sun

Image
(PC: weather.com) A group of researchers is using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to calibrate NASA’s images of the Sun. For over a decade, NASA’s Solar Dynamic Observatory provided high-definition images of the Sun. The Atmospheric Imagery Assembly or AIA is one of the two imaging instruments on SDO that continuously looks at the Sun, capturing images across 10 wavelengths of ultraviolet light every 12 seconds. Even though this provides useful information, the AIA or similar Sun-staring instruments degrade over time, and data needs to be frequently calibrated. To overcome this drawback, scientists decide to look for other techniques to calibrate the instrument. Machine learning was a perfect solution. With the help of this technique, it can recognize a solar flame without degradation. The algorithm helps understand how much degradation is affecting AIA’s current images and how much calibration is needed. To know more details, click this link .

(PC: itweb.co.za) Fujitsu has started the development and deployment of the system that connects the artificial intelligence track cameras, increasing safety at the Nuerburgring racetrack. The initial plan is for 2.8 km of the Nordschleife track section, where only radio contact with the marshals has ensured safety. In case artificial intelligence detects a potential issue, relevant triggers are sent to RaceControl and, oncoming traffic is provided via trackside displays. The Nordschleife track is the most famous track of the Nuerburgring’s two racetracks. It is a 20.8 km track, having a total of 73 turns that also includes blind corners, drops, and significant elevation changes. The Fujitsu solution is based on cameras set up by Nuerburgring that are connected to RaceControl via fiber optic cables. Fujitsu is developing an AI-based system to monitor all the video feeds in real-time and detect potential dangers where any.  To know more details, click this link
